The aim of the postgraduate programmes is to provide scientific training in research design, methodology, data analysis and result interpretation. Considerable emphasis is placed on the student’s acquisition of knowledge and skills in using advanced clinical and laboratory technologies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Objectives:

  • To study and understand the most updated development and important research topics in O&G;
  • To define a sound research hypothesis and plan, and apply an appropriate analytical and experimental approach to dissect the research questions;
  • To learn and apply valid statistics to analyse the clincial and/or laboratory data for publication; and
  • To encourage scientific presentations in international conferences and writing in international peer-review journals.

For the Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Music, Doctor of Nursing, Doctor of Psychology, Doctor of Business Administration (Chinese), Doctor of Social Science in Applied Social Science Programmes, the applicant shall have:

  • a master's degree obtained from a recognized university; or
  • a bachelor's degree, normally with Second Class Honours in the upper division or above, and have been registered in a course of study for a master's degree at this University for at least one year and have demonstrated research ability; or
  • been registered in a course of study for a doctoral degree at a recognized university for at least one year, and have been approved for admission by the Graduate Council; or
  • obtained the degrees of M.B., Ch.B., or equivalent, or under special circumstances, the degree of bachelor, for admission to programmes of the Faculty of Medicine.

In addition to the general requirements of the Graduate School, applicants should have a Master's degree in a field related to life sciences or the degree of MBChB or equivalent.
