Neuroscientists investigate the mind and brain – from molecules to behaviour. Neuroscience research has a great many applications, from medicine to artificial intelligence.


With over 50 research groups on campus, Sussex Neuroscience is one of the largest and most interconnected neuroscience communities in the UK. On this course, you’ll be based in the School of Life Sciences and become a valuable part of our community. Our expertise spans a wide range of approaches to modern neuroscience including:

 

  • sensory processing
  • neural circuits
  • synapses and ion channels
  • neurodegeneration.


On the MSc, you’ll be taught and supervised by our research-intensive faculty:


  • our core modules encourage you to explore cellular and systems neuroscience
  • a range of options allows you to choose topics that interest you the most
  • the research project is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for you to work closely with one of our research groups.


On graduation, you’ll have valuable transferrable skills for a career in the science sector and beyond.

Degree requirements: You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above.


Subject-specific requirements: Your qualification should be in a relevant science subject such as neuroscience, biological psychology, biochemistry or biology. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
