  • Solve real-world philosophical problems with industry partners to build your network and gain practical experience to prepare for your career.
  • Build essential transferable skills and train to analyse, organise, communicate, collaborate and think like a philosopher.
  • Tackle issues using analytic and continental methodologies with our friendly and supportive community, committed to using philosophy for society’s benefit.

This course will train you to analyse, organise, communicate, collaborate, and think.

Ideas, debates and thought-provoking questions – philosophy is forever challenging our assumptions about the world. You'll work with professional philosophers and industry partners from your first day and develop skills that will be essential in your future career.

Your curriculum will be innovative and diverse and you can choose to approach philosophical questions in different ways, for example by exploring non-Western and feminist philosophy.

You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive community that's committed to using philosophy for the benefit of society. We’ve worked with a wide variety of organisations, including:
  • the UK Parliament
  • the Royal College of Midwives
  • the British Horseracing Association
  • Philosophy in Prisons
  • the International Science Council.

Recent Sussex philosophy graduates are now working across the globe. Some are working in law, tech companies, in journalism, marketing and policy-making. They are in schools and colleges and working in health and social care, the Civil Service and at the United Nations. Others have gone on to become museum curators, television script writers, poets, musicians, stand-up comics, entrepreneurs and Chief Executive Officers.
