The Geography BA at Sussex explores the connections between people, places, and environments. From climate change and migration to inequalities and identity, you’ll explore how we can build more sustainable, equitable futures.

You’ll focus on the human side of Geography. Learning from faculty members driving real-world change, you’ll explore themes such as global migration, urban change and development. You’ll also have the flexibility to include physical geography modules if you wish.

You’ll study on our campus located between the between the sea and the city. This unique setting gives you access to coastal environments and the bustling city of Brighton, as well as the South Downs National Park.

You will take advantage of our location through field trips, which are at the heart of the course. You’ll study locally in your first year, then have opportunities to explore geography internationally. Our second year trips have included destinations such as Beijing, Los Angeles, Marseille, Corsica and the Greek Islands.

Throughout your degree, you’ll build a powerful analytical toolkit, from data literacy and critical thinking to research design and communicating complex ideas. You can also boost your employability through integrated internships, digital and data accelerator programmes, and placement or study abroad years. You’ll graduate with the skills employers demand and with an understanding of sustainability challenges.
