Begin your journey towards becoming a skilled engineer in robotics and mechatronics. You’ll study exciting topics including mechatronics, autonomous vehicles, embedded systems, robotics and control engineering.
During your studies, you’ll:
- cover theoretical aspects needed to solve problems in the field of robotics and mechatronics
- get hands-on experience in laboratories on industrial-grade equipment such as a mechatronics platform, mobile robots, industrial robotic manipulators and 3D printers
- apply the knowledge you’ve gained through individual and interdisciplinary group projects
- work on cutting-edge technologies and real-world challenges.
Your studies will be informed by our research expertise, including from the Centre for Robotics and Sensing Technologies (CROSS‑Tech). Our researchers work in areas like autonomous industrial robots, surgical and medical robotics, smart sensors and actuators, human–robot interaction, control systems, and machine vision.
You'll learn in our Future Technologies Labs, using industry standard tools. The Robotic and Mechatronic Engineering labs also include components such as an industrial‑grade automated production line with a Mitsubishi robot arm and Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers.
You'll have dedicated academic advisers to support you during you time at Sussex, as well as a team of student mentors.
Your hands-on experience will empower you and equip you with the essential skills for your future career. When you graduate, you’ll be well prepared for a career in robotics and automation engineering with a wide diversity of application sectors including:
