Do you want to know what drives people to emigrate from and within the Global South? Do you want to learn about the effects of migration on countries and families left behind? How do migration policies shape migrants’ life-chances? Our interdisciplinary Masters will give you the knowledge to analyse and address these and other questions.



You'll gain specialised knowledge and transferable skills in areas such as:


  • migration policies
  • refugee rights
  • development strategies
  • humanitarian assistance.



Our senior faculty members have extensive knowledge from working in the field. They will help you to develop your critical thinking and effective communication skills. You'll develop your critical thinking and effective communication.



Our interdisciplinary approach will give you a distinctive, critical grounding in understanding the nexus between migration and international development. And you’ll become part of the research community in the Sussex Centre for Migration Research. This University of Sussex Centre of Excellence will enrich your academic curriculum by allowing you to take part in research seminars and an international conference with leading international migration scholars.



Our graduates have gone on to impactful jobs in the field of migration and development, including IOM, ILO, local authorities, national governments, advocacy groups, as well as pursuing doctoral degrees.
