Re-imagine how education can meet the needs of the mid-21st century, enhanced by your psychology knowledge. You’ll prepare for a wide range of careers in the education sector.
We want to help you to support others to thrive in a world threatened by social injustice, climate catastrophe and the challenges of generative AI. You’ll study education in both formal and informal settings – from schools and universities to community, refugee, peacebuilding and arts education. Through this, you’ll explore different approaches to working and learn how to apply them in professional settings.
You’ll build the skills to support learners from early years to older age, studying:
- curriculum, learning, culture and society
- support for neurodivergent learners
- inclusion, equalities and identities
- education, democracy, social justice and global sustainability
- digital education in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
Through your Psychology modules, you’ll investigate how people learn across every stage of life. You’ll study child development through social, biological, cognitive and clinical studies, considering the social, emotional and mental-health needs of learners. In Year 2, you’ll also gain practical experience through a work-based placement.
You’ll learn from our expert staff and national leaders in their field. As part of the Centre for Teaching and Learning, you’ll connect with research and practice that shapes education policy locally and nationally.
You’ll also engage with our experts’ diverse international research, including:
- the role of education in conflict zones
- learning in prisons
- children’s literacy
- how sustainability is taught across the world.
By the end of your degree, you’ll be able to explore the areas of education that interest you most – from infant schools and the arts to museums, peacebuilding and refugee education.
