Since its establishment in 1993, the Master's in Physics has placed great emphasis on research, which is reflected in more than 200 articles published in peer-reviewed international journals, to which are added the publications in proceedings of national and international conferences. Research is carried out in close collaboration with national and foreign research groups. This has allowed our students to carry out stays at internationally renowned universities and institutes, within the framework of joint research programs. The students of the program are normally integrated into research groups so that their contributions serve as the basis for their master's theses, which in many cases are accompanied by a publication in indexed journals. In this way, it is common for our students, at the end of their master's studies, to be co-authors of articles published in these journals.

Students graduate after supporting a thesis, or they can opt for the article modality that can be published in specialized international journals.

The main lines of research developed in the master's degree are: quantum optics, elementary particles (or high energies), nuclear fingerprints, fluid dynamics and materials science. Research in these lines can be theoretical or experimental. To carry out the latter, there are various laboratories, such as those for materials sciences, quantum optics, nuclear fingerprints and plasmas. In elementary particles, the experimental part is developed in large international laboratories, such as those of Fermilab and CERN, to which our high-energy group is integrated. The possibility of participating in the provision of services for the industrial and productive sector of the country is also open to students; appropriate equipment is available for this.
