Public services (the provision of electricity and other energy sources, telecommunications, transport and its infrastructure, as well as water and sanitation works) are the pillar of a country's development. These services constitute about 15% of Peru's domestic product and are a necessary condition for the efficient development of other activities, in addition to being essential for the well-being of the population. Therefore, governments pay special attention to these sectors, and promote their development and proper functioning. In the Peruvian case, the adequate promotion and regulation of public service industries allows, among other aspects, that:

In this way, professionals who have training in areas related to regulation can perform efficiently in institutions responsible for the design and implementation of policies and regulation of public services.
