The specific areas of research that are privileged in the Doctorate are the following:
Phenomenology and Hermeneutics
Mind, Language and Knowledge
History of Philosophy (Ancient and Modern especially)
The doctorate places special emphasis on research and thesis work. A priority purpose of it is to ensure that the doctoral student develops, in the seminars and courses included in the curriculum, the fundamental competencies and skills for philosophical research. For this reason, both the preparation of the thesis project and the writing of it are conceived as activities that are part of the curriculum, in which the student has the effective assistance and guidance of the guide teacher and is evaluated according to the achievements obtained in this process. In addition, the program encourages the incorporation of doctoral students in the academic activities of the Department in its various research programs and study groups.
The Doctorate program encourages internships abroad and has a large Library specialized in Humanities and Social Sciences.
