Based on a long-term vision (2018-2048), the country defined a National Policy for Land Management, whose governing body is the Interministerial Commission for the City, Housing and Territory. The National Policy for Territorial Planning has the ability to lead and coordinate initiatives with territorial impact, in order to advance more efficiently and effectively towards overcoming inequality gaps, multiplying the opportunities of the inhabitants and improving their quality of life.

It also seeks the construction of a harmonious, integrated, safe and inclusive territory in its diverse and wide geography, expressing its potentials and promoting the dynamization of its economic, environmental, social and cultural wealth.

The purpose of the Master in Territorial Planning and Geography is to train professionals, starting from the improvement of the students in the main instruments of Territorial Planning applied at the national level and, from the deepening in the task of diagnosing the state of the territorial systems ( human, economic-productive, natural, infrastructure and logistics, and socio-territorial settlements), assessing the potentialities and weaknesses of the territorial and social capital of the places and, foreseeing future scenarios from said state.
The Master in Territorial Planning and Geography aims at promoting a fairer society in Chile and, at the training of professionals of excellence, who understand their professional practice as a possibility of service to society.
