The master's degree in Science, Technology and Society at the Alberto Hurtado University is a program that seeks to contribute to the transdisciplinary training of academics and professionals who have an interest in studying the relationships between scientific and technological developments and society, with a specific focus on the contemporary Chilean and Latin American context. This is achieved through the use of theoretical and methodological tools developed in the field of social studies of science and technology, constituting the first program in Chile to provide postgraduate training from this approach.


OBJECTIVES

General:


  • To train professionals and researchers who are capable of reflexively using the theoretical knowledge and the research methodologies generated by the social studies of science and technology for the analysis and intervention on contemporary social problems, especially those in which the products of science and technology are at the fore.


Specific:


  • Train professionals and researchers who handle the main theoretical-conceptual guidelines developed by practitioners of social studies of science and technology, with a special focus on Chile and Latin America.
  • Train professionals and researchers who have research tools to analyze specific social problems that include aspects of science and technology. 
  • Train professionals and researchers who can contribute substantively to enrich the national and regional analysis and debate on issues related to the relationship between science, technology and society.
