During the degree, instrumental, vocal and directing skills are fostered, together with pedagogical and curricular creation skills; In addition, instrumental piano, flute, guitar and voice education courses are taught, as well as choral practice, which together provide a complete knowledge of the discipline to execute properly. The degree has four possibilities of specialization – Composition, Conducting Youth and Children's Orchestras, Choral Conducting and Conducting Instrumental Ensembles – which make it competitive and allow its graduates to broaden their professional field.

From the second year, students experience early internships, and from the fourth year they access Work Experiences, where they work alongside a teacher and progressively acquire greater responsibilities.

During the race, activities are carried out on the ground such as visits to museums, the Municipal Theater, the GAM, cultural centers, educational concerts and talks. Some of the students create music workshops in highly vulnerable schools as part of the University-School link. Likewise, we maintain alliances with schools and with institutions such as the National Library and the Foundation of Youth and Children's Orchestras of Chile to carry out professional internships or academic activities. During the year, students are nurtured by visits from Chilean and foreign musicians and composers who perform master classes in their specialty, as well as from the Concert Seasons and the Educational Extension Cycle of the UAH Music Institute in the main stages of the city.
