The Doctorate aims to favor the development of research in Psychology with an eminently social and interdisciplinary stamp, which allows understanding psychological processes considering their historical, cultural, macro and micro-social dynamics, as well as organic, thus contributing to the knowledge and transformation of the dynamics both psychological and social that go through the society in which we live. The Doctorate in Psychology is a regular postgraduate program, with face-to-face modality and that will grant the academic degree of Doctor in Psychology. Students entering the program must work in one of the following lines of research, which constitute thematic priorities of the Faculty of Psychology and bring together the research work of their academics:
Human rights, political violence and psychosocial reparation: This line of research addresses issues associated with the individual and social effects of political violence and its consequences on the victims and their descendants. It investigates how this violence has been registered and documented, the management of its assistance and reparation, and the treatment of its victims. The role of the different forms of resistance displayed by society is also examined. The political treatment of that recent past is addressed through public policies on truth, justice, reparations and memory. The subjectivities associated with these processes are investigated from clinical, psychosocial and political dimensions. An interdisciplinary approach is encouraged that contributes to formulating the appropriate epistemic approaches and establishing their ethical implications. In addition, this line deals with different phenomena from the point of view of Human Rights, such as childhood and adoptions, and gender and sexuality.
Social interactions, learning, and psychological change: This line of research analyzes the effects and relationships between different types of social interactions, learning processes, and psychological change throughout life. It assumes that learning and change, as psychological processes, have a relational and social nature; and furthermore, that different forms of social relationship from the first months of life have as a consequence different development processes throughout life. In particular, it seeks to understand how certain forms of social interaction and relational bonding and interventions in this line are associated with processes of learning, change and psychological well-being at different stages of life.
Subjective dynamics of social and institutional life: This line of research analyzes the psychological processes that take place within the framework of cultural and institutional dynamics of social life, such as family, neighborhood, community, work or organizations.. This implies attending to the social transformations underway, the dominant discourses or the dynamics of interaction, domination and resistance in different spheres of social life. The construction of contemporary social subjects can be approached from multiple conceptual and methodological tools, such as social and professional trajectories, gender dynamics, corporalization, governmentality, identities or mental health.
