The Doctorate in Social Work from the Alberto Hurtado University is the first in Chile. It seeks to provide a space for the development of comprehensive proposals and social transformation according to the complex scenarios that we live in. Its hallmark is in the development of Latin American comparative views, to understand international relations and influences on local decisions and thereby densify and diversify the analysis of social policies and interventions aimed at the social transformation and well-being of communities, particularly those of the most disadvantaged social groups. Its training offer is innovative since it is committed to a collaborative and comprehensive process, which is expressed in a curriculum that combines thematic and methodological elements. At the same time, complementary activities are incorporated and from the beginning of the program progress is made in the preparation of the thesis. The doctorate contemplates the training of trainers in Social Work. It is based on three lines of research:
Emergencies, processes and strategies of social transformation. This line incorporates analysis around social problems and forms of action that demand, promote and / or demand transformations at the social level. This line invites us to look, from interdisciplinary perspectives, at the conformation of new objects and fields of interest for Social Work, which implies expanding the humanist perspective towards other environments, bodies and materialities, for example: natural, technological, spiritual, among others.
Well-being, Justice, Inequality in Latin America. This line will focus on studying inequalities from a historical and / or present perspective. The work to be carried out in this area is aimed at rethinking the dimensions in which they are expressed, the groups that experience them and the socio-territorial arrangements that they make up.
Subjectivities and sociocultural dimensions for understanding the public and social intervention. This line analyzes the processes, contexts and relationships through which various actors produce ideas and operationalize what is understood by the public and the private, the individual and the collective, and based on this, the configuration of heritage and assets. problems that affect Latin American societies.
