The Alberto Hurtado University offers since 1987 the ILADES Postgraduate Program in Economics, now “ Master in Economics ”.

The academic excellence of the teachers, the motivating intellectual environment that is manifested in seminars, conferences and extension activities, as well as the continuous academic exchange with other high-level universities, national and foreign, converge to make this Program an excellent alternative to postgraduate studies, recognized as one of the most prestigious in Latin America.

The Master was accredited in December 2015 by the Qualitas Agency for 7 years, until December 2022.

OBJECTIVES

General:

Develop skills for a solid education in economics, providing up-to-date and high-level technical tools for economic analysis, for outstanding performance both in the academic field and in professional practice in the business field, public sector, international organizations and consulting activities..

Specifics:

Provide rigorous and comprehensive training in economic theory, in the areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
Develop skills in handling quantitative tools for applied economic analysis in the academic and professional field.
Develop research capacities for the critical analysis of contemporary economic problems, with special interest in public policy problems.
Promote an environment of permanent intellectual interaction between teachers and students, in a context of highly personalized education taught by research professors.
Prepare and guide academically those students interested in pursuing doctoral studies in economics and related disciplines in the United States and Europe.

Admission Requirements

Academic bachelor's degree or equivalent university degree (of at least 4 years).
Applicants must have intermediate knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics and mathematics.
Except in the case of short courses taught by visiting professors, the subjects will be taught in Spanish.
Reading comprehension of English, because the study bibliography will be mostly in this language.
