The Master in Latin American Literature at the Alberto Hurtado University proposes a critical review of the studies of Latin American literature, fed by the most recent theoretical discussions in the field of theory and criticism. It is proposed to develop these studies taking into account both the particularities of national literatures and a consideration of the regional spheres and, more broadly, articulating cross-sectional analyzes that together can account for the complexity of the continent's literary production. This exploration of multiple senses of literary texts currently requires, for its better discernment, interdisciplinary instruments that consider the new tensions between the local and the global. Literary studies contribute to the understanding and debate in contemporary societies based on these and other questions that guide our formative practice:
How are problems of identity, modernization processes, politics and memory explored in Latin American literature? migrations, exile?
What are the challenges involved in gender studies and the dialogues of literature with other cultural productions?
How are literary studies updated under different theoretical turns: biopolitical, affective, intermedial, territorial, among others?
In what way do the new cultural, material and geopolitical orders promote the diversification and transformation of literary practices?
