What is an image? How does it affect us? How have images been produced, used and understood in history? How do they relate to new media and technology? What are its links to meaning, truth, perception, and thought? What are the challenges that they pose to disciplines such as history, art history, philosophy or literature? The academics of the master's degree investigate, among other subjects and objects, the photographs as historical documents; the relationships between cinema, sound, visual arts and literature and between images and texts in general; hermeneutical approaches to the problem of the image; the conception of writing as an image, the different media and techniques of image production in the course of history, as well as intermediality.
