The Master's program in Adapted Physical Activity and Health (APA-S) aims to train project managers in health prevention and/or professionals in physical activity interventions for individuals seeking to improve or maintain their health within existing or newly created facilities.
More specifically, the program prepares students to work with populations who have developed a chronic illness related to lifestyle and exacerbated by aging (e.g., cancer, metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases) or who present with risk factors (obesity, malnutrition, deconditioning, addictions, etc.). By completing the program, students are able to develop, implement, and evaluate adapted physical activity programs with preventive and/or therapeutic aims, taking into account individual characteristics and context (nutritional, historical, socio-political, cultural).
Graduates of the APA-S Master's program collaborate with a medical team or a multidisciplinary network. They develop strategies to promote and optimize health through physical activity.
