Presentation and objectives of the training
  • The Master's program in Training and Optimization of Sports Performance at Université Côte d'Azur aims to train professionals in sports training (physical preparation, planning, sports performance analysis, etc.) and rehabilitation, as well as researchers in sports science. The program emphasizes a scientific approach focused on performance (particularly methods and tools) and relies on a combination of theoretical and practical instruction, delivered by professionals and by specialist and recognized professors and researchers in the fields of sports science, high-level sports performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
  • The training is attached to the Human Motricity, Expertise, Sport, Health Laboratory, a multidisciplinary laboratory in life and health sciences and human sciences, one of whose cross-cutting research axes is "sports performance" and its optimization.
  Organization of the training
  • The master's program is open to both initial and continuing education (alternating work and study).
  • The Master's Teaching Units (UE) address the methodological tools for the evaluation, quantification and planning of training and rehabilitation, in a multidisciplinary approach (physiology, biomechanics, functional anatomy, nutrition, psychology).
  • The use of these tools is illustrated by case studies and practical scenarios in the context of physical preparation, injury prevention, psychological support and sports rehabilitation.
  • The training program is offered continuously over two years. The training is organized into 5 modules of 6 ECTS credits each per semester, for a total teaching load of 834 hours (excluding internship).
  • The Professional and Research Project (PPR) aims to train students in the management of a scientific project in physical preparation and/or rehabilitation in a host structure (professional club, sports club, medical-sports center, sports federation, private structure dealing with physical preparation and/or rehabilitation).
  • During the first year of the Master's program (M1), this 15 ECTS PPR (Project-Based Research Project) consists of courses in scientific methodology and a minimum 350-hour internship in a sports organization or research laboratory. In the second year (M2), the PPR is worth 30 ECTS credits, for which students must implement their project within a host organization (i.e., a sports organization or laboratory) during a minimum 350-hour internship.
  • At the end of M2, the PPR is assessed based on the production of a dissertation and an oral defense.
  • Specific arrangements are in place to accommodate working students and high-level athletes, primarily through the possibility of exemptions from attendance requirements, but also through support/tutoring courses for high-level athletes. The gradual shift of courses towards a distance learning format will also facilitate continuing education.
