The Cancer and Translational Research (CRT) track aims to address major scientific and societal challenges in the fields of oncology and personalized medicine. It connects science students and physicians to create clinico-biological networks and foster the bidirectional flow of knowledge between basic and clinical research. Its goal is to develop innovative cancer research and enable future practitioners and researchers to integrate scientific advances more quickly and effectively.
The Cancer and Translational Research track of the Master's program in Life Sciences, offered by the University Research School of Life and Health Sciences ( EUR LIFE ), is associated with the IDEX UCA JEDI project and the Signalife Laboratory of Excellence .
This track is offered in
- An M1 that provides a solid foundation in cell and molecular biology and pharmacology
- A Master 2 which contains more specific courses in oncology.
This program offers a total immersion between research and medical practice.
The learning program consists of five disciplinary modules and is supplemented by two methodological modules. The teaching schedule is condensed into six weeks to accommodate the schedules of residents and alternates between theoretical and practical instruction. Finally, a long internship concludes the program and offers a genuine opportunity to gain solid professional experience.

Admission Requirements
Training prerequisites
To be eligible for the Cancer and Translational Research track, several conditions must be met. At a minimum, the following are required:
Mastering the concepts of
- Cell signaling
- Pharmacology
- Cell and molecular biology
Having completed a research internship/hospital internship
Before entering the second year of the Master's program (M2), the options chosen during the first year (M1) will determine the M2 specialization.
Recommended elective courses in M1 : UE14, UE15, and UE25. The required core courses will provide a solid foundation of knowledge for admission to the second year (M2). As for methodological training, all the courses offered will ensure you are at the required level for the second year (M2).
Access to the M2 program:
Applicants must have successfully completed the first year of the Master 1 in Life Sciences at Université Côte d'Azur (Cancer Studies track) or any other Life Sciences and Health program outside of Université Côte d'Azur.
Depending on the skills acquired during their studies, students with an initial background in chemistry or physics, medical, pharmacy, or veterinary students (who must have completed certain scientific course units), and students from prestigious engineering schools (depending on the skills acquired in the relevant fields) may also be admitted. Admission to the second year of the Master's program (M2) is possible through the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) process
