This double degree gives students: An integrated view of biology. It focuses on the environment, biodiversity, biomedical research, plant health and improvement, and on understanding the basic mechanisms of living organisms. An integrated view of Earth Science: Access to any Master’s degree in fundamental or applied Geosciences (especially the track Earth Science, Planets and Environment or Environment Management offered in Nice) or to the Master’s degrees that prepare for teaching jobs. The possibility to apply for jobs as senior technician in Geology, Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Waste Management, Resource Management, Land Use Planning, Oil & Gas, Geophysics.
Goals
Grasp the basic principles of the different levels of organization from the molecule to the environment, and be able to apply them to solve scientific problems or analyze a research document. Understand how the Earth’s structure develops and be able to apply these principles to questions relating to natural resources, geological hazards and land use planning. Interpret data obtained by following an experimental protocol, using the suitable tools of analysis and develop a reasoned argument. Develop a scientific approach that starts with observation and goes all the way to modeling in different scales of time and space, while keeping a critical mind. Autonomously implement an experimental protocol that is rigorous and reproducible. Clearly communicate in French and in a foreign language. Present his/her results in a clear and rigorous way, in written or spoken French and English, showing a good mastery of Earth Science terminology. Carry out a project in a team and alone. Apply the main preventive measures in terms of health and hygiene, and respect principles of ethics and responsibility. Contribute to a research study carried out in a laboratory or R&D department, or in an applied geoscience study for a regional institution or consultant agency. Carry out geological object studies as a team or individually, in the field or in a laboratory, and be able to work autonomously.
