The Chemistry Bachelor's degree aims to provide students with the acquisition and mastery of theoretical concepts and experimental techniques
in chemistry, enabling them to critically understand the properties of matter, its transformations, and their modeling, from the atomic to the macroscopic level. The Chemistry Bachelor's degree is accessible as a disciplinary Bachelor's degree, as a Bachelor's degree with health studies access (LAS), or as a dual degree in Chemistry and Life Sciences .
It is structured over three years, with the objective of ensuring a broad and comprehensive education in chemistry. Students learn to formalize, understand, and solve problems using various chemical concepts. They also learn to construct logical arguments and to present clear, rigorous, and convincing arguments.
In their first year, students not only acquire a solid foundation in chemistry, but also take refresher courses in mathematics and choose elective courses in other disciplines (physics, Earth sciences, and life sciences), allowing them to explore the interactions between chemistry and the scientific world.
In their second and third years, each student follows a single-discipline track in chemistry, with the possibility of choosing options related to their future career goals .
Throughout the three years of the Bachelor's degree, transferable skills are also offered: English, introductions to artificial intelligence, the ecological transition and sustainable development, as well as professional development modules.
Courses are taught in person, in French, primarily by professors and researchers affiliated with research units.
Training objective:
- The Chemistry degree provides a solid foundation in the major fields of chemistry. Throughout the program, students develop a progressive and in-depth understanding of chemical phenomena through the following courses:
- Physical chemistry : understanding chemical equilibria in solution, the laws of thermodynamics, the rate of reactions (kinetics) and phenomena related to electricity in chemical systems (electrochemistry).
- Organic chemistry : learning to name molecules, understanding the rules of reactivity of organic compounds, mastering chemical functions and building strategies for synthesizing molecules.
- Inorganic chemistry : exploring the properties of elements, studying solid materials and polymers, and analyzing the structure and reactivity of transition metal compounds.
- Theoretical chemistry and spectroscopies : modeling atoms and molecules, using theories such as symmetry or Hückel's theory, and interpreting the results of different analytical techniques (UV, IR, NMR and mass spectrometry).

Admission Requirements
- Admission to the first year (L1): Baccalaureate or equivalent diploma. It is strongly recommended to have taken the Physics-Chemistry specialization in the penultimate and final years of secondary school. All other high-quality applications will be considered.
- Admission to the second year (L2): The prerequisite is having earned 60 ECTS credits in the first year (L1) of a Chemistry degree. More generally, any application with a validated first year (L1) in Chemistry will also be considered; this particularly concerns anyone holding a first-year degree from the Science and Technology Portal at Université Côte d'Azur. Students who have completed a year of preparatory classes for the Grandes Écoles (CPGE) in science may be admitted to the second year (L2) or redirected to the first year (L1), after review of their application.
- Admission to the third year (L3): The prerequisite is having completed the second year (L2) of a Chemistry degree. Students who have completed two years of scientific preparatory classes (CPGE) may be admitted to the third year (L3) or redirected to the second year (L2), after review of their application.
