The Networks and Optimization course focuses on the topics of networks and optimization and addresses network optimization. This course aims to provide expertise in the concepts and tools relating to networks and optimization in the broadest sense of the term, as well as related IT techniques. It focuses on aspects of modelling, fundamental results, methods and algorithms, as well as their suitability for insertion in networked systems. In this sense, this course aims to provide future professionals with solid scientific and technological knowledge which is focused on system optimization in order to study and design innovative complex systems for networks through a multidisciplinary approach (learning method, game theory, mathematical programming (deterministic, robust, stochastic)) with a focus on optimization in particular. The knowledge and skills which are expected to be attained by the end of the course are: - Good knowledge of networks - Good knowledge of modeling a real problem from the world of networks, concepts, algorithms and optimization software - An ability to develop a research problem and design a solution - Ability to incorporate network optimization methods and tools within a company
