Its aim is to establish a relationship between the process, the material, its microstructure and its mechanical properties for advanced industrial applications and innovative processes. It presents a general approach to solid mechanics, as it applies to many different materials (metals, ceramics, glass, composites, polymers, mousse, shape-memory alloys...) to enable students to understand their sizing under complex loading conditions (3D, almost random, anisothermal, multi-physics...). Students receive scientific methodology training that includes experimental characterisation using state-of-the-art tools all the way to the simulation of structures' mechanical behaviour. They also cover modelling deformation mechanisms and the connection between the different phenomena.
