The professional Optics license is made up of two courses whose objectives are different and clearly identified:
The “Optometry” course aims to train opticians specializing in optometry and contactology. The graduate will be able to work as an optician/optometrist in an optical store in order to perform eye exams and contact lens adaptations. The main objective of the training is to provide two skills, namely the performance of eye exams (optometry) and the adaptation of contact lenses (contactology). The acquisition of these two skills requires the assimilation of theoretical knowledge related to these two disciplines (EUOptometry and Contactology Theoretical knowledge), through the acquisition of practical skills (EUOptometry and Contactology Practical Work) and the skills necessary for the analysis and management of cases relating to professional practice (EUOptometry and Contactology Case Analysis). Awareness of the main ophthalmic emergencies, which can be encountered during professional practice of eye exams and the adaptation of contact lenses, naturally complements the training. The visual care needs of an aging population that encounters age-related problems is growing, so it seemed necessary to introduce students to this practice (EUComplementary, Low Vision material).
Course 2 "Management and Sales in optics and eyewear" aims to train qualified opticians in commercial, managerial and management skills. It completes the technical training of the optician with skills related to commercial and managerial activity in stores: commercial aspects related to products and services, management of relations with customers, suppliers, mutual insurance companies, administrations, management of commercial teams. Graduates of course 2 "Management and Sales in optics and eyewear" will mobilize their dual skills to be able to lead a team of consulting opticians, open an optician's store, progress to positions of responsibility within a large sales area or a sign. Field internships and supervised projects reinforce the professionalization of the student apprentice. In addition, the common core of skills concerns the mastery of marketing fundamentals, the development of individual qualities of autonomy, initiative and responsibility, the ability to integrate into a team and to lead projects in the optics. Educational techniques such as case studies, simulations of BTOC negotiations in the ICO application store, BTOB negotiations and managerial meeting animations in the audiovisual room contribute to the appropriation of these skills and professional gestures. the development of individual qualities of autonomy, initiative and responsibility, the ability to integrate into a team and to lead projects in the optical sector.
