The aim of this Biodiversity, Genomics and Environment  is to give students in-depth and exhaustive knowledge of Metagenomics methods and the functional biodiversity of ecosystems in a broad sense, and microbials in particular. Students on this course are trained to become scientists equipped to understand microbial ecosystems (environmental, human and food microbiota, biotechnologies), the organisms they are made of and the interactions that bring them all together. Through specific case studies given by professionals from different sectors, students also learn to use microbial metagenomics analysis tools. The focus is on research-based training, with a four-week practical course (an actual research project tutored in M1) at the MICALIS Institute or I2BC. Assisted by a teaching team made up of researchers from these institutes and course teachers, students are tasked with generating and analysing multi-scale data. They acquire teamwork skills through various team projects carried out during theoretical and practical teaching units.
