The energy R&D sector is booming worldwide, both because of sustained energy needs and increasingly stringent environmental constraints. Technological developments are rapid and numerous, generating an important call for professionals capable of supporting their development. To meet these needs, this course trains young engineers and future researchers capable of working on new modes of energy production (particularly renewables) and energy efficiency.
The training allows a course built to the card, highlighting major areas which can be photovoltaic, wind power, energy efficiency, the hydrogen vector, storage. These major areas are supplemented by lessons in advanced techniques on materials or knowledge of nuclear power, an essential issue in the French debate.
All these areas combine very active basic research, in which the University of Paris-Saclay is one of the world's poles, and numerous and growing industrial applications. This position at the interface between basic research and the development of concrete solutions is reflected in the lessons, which range from a course on energy policy to a practical work on a particle accelerator. This therefore opens up very wide opportunities, from pursuing a doctorate to energy consulting positions and including the various nuances of engineering.
