The Environmental Science degree explores the key issues in environmental science, studying principles from both the natural and the social sciences. Teaching is conducted both in the laboratory and through field trips and day visits. This course is accredited by both the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management and the Landscape Institute. Students may arrange a year-long work placement in between the second and third years. Through work placement, students can gain a real-world experience and a professional network. Opportunities may be available at charities, city councils, environmental consultancies, government agencies, local wildlife trusts, NHS, schools or waste management companies. Students may also study abroad at one of the partner universities for half of the work placement year. This degree includes several residential field trips. Recent destinations include the Lake District, Amsterdam, Czech Republic, Iceland, Snowdonia and Mallorca.
