Through the Nursing Learning Disability and Social Work degree, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of contemporary learning disability nursing and social work practice. This degree emphasizes the use of person-centred, relationship-focused practice to work in partnership with service users, families and carers. Students will be equipped with the skills and expertise to support people with learning disabilities across their lifespan. On successful completion graduate will be able to register as a qualified nurse (learning disability) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and with the Health Care Professions Council as a social worker in England. This course is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Graduates are eligible to apply to register with them. Registration with the NMC is required in order to practise as a nurse in the UK and with the HCPC to practise as a social worker in England.
