The Department of Agricultural Crops is a significant component of the Faculty of Agriculture. It is importance to provide rigorous scientific education to produce knowledgeable graduates who can work in their field of specialization, conduct research, and practice professions related to the use of biotechnologies in the cultivation of various crops.

The department has several objectives including:
- Teaching students the methods and techniques of scientific research related to their specialties and their applications to contribute to the agricultural development process.
- Developing study programs that link theoretical lessons with practical experience in the field of crop cultivation, especially in Libya, to benefit from the experiences of others and introduce new agricultural sciences in the curricula to enhance students' scientific knowledge.
- Preparing and training Agricultural Engineers in the field of agricultural crop science based on scientific principles.
- Acting as a specialized scientific institution that provides technical studies and consultations for various private and public sectors.
- Utilizing genetic engineering methods to obtain genetically modified plants and conducting research on the following crops such as production of fodder crops, breeding and improvement of crops, technology, and physiology of seeds.
- Providing opportunities for postgraduate studies in the department to obtain a master's degree and a doctorate.

Admission Requirements

1. The student must have obtained a high school practical department with a good general grade and above
2. The student must pass 30 academic units in the general direction .
3. Pass the subjects Plant 1 and Plant 2 .
4. Passing the crop Basics course
