The Department of Animal Production is a part of the Faculty of Agriculture at Sabha University. The department offers a bachelor's degree program that focuses on animal production through a quarterly study system. The program's primary objective is to equip students with the knowledge of animal husbandry of all kinds and breeds. Students are also provided with information related to the application of these projects and administrative, nutritional, physiological, and economic organization. The program aims to exploit the different productive capacities of animals and their interaction with appropriate feed materials to achieve an optimal production level. The program also aims to prepare and graduate qualified specialized agricultural cadres to manage livestock projects and conduct applied scientific research aimed at solving problems that hinder the production process. The department also aims to expand the use of modern genetic engineering techniques in the field of animal production and the development of new methods, tools, and techniques to improve animal production.

The department's vision and mission revolve around serving and developing the community. Therefore, the department aims to graduate scientific cadres with bachelor's and master's degrees in Agricultural Sciences. These graduates are expected to be familiar with scientific and knowledge bases and acquire technical skills that meet the needs of society in the development and growth of the agricultural sector. Graduates should also have the ability to design, establish, and manage livestock production projects and support and meet the demand of society with advanced cadres in agricultural specialties in general and the field of animal production in particular.
