The Department of English Language was established in 2007. The department aims to produce highly competent and skilled teachers and leaders in the fields of English language, literature, and science through an integrated study plan. This program includes courses in language, literature, translation, and general educational subjects, which are regularly updated to meet educational goals and market requirements. The department aims to provide an outstanding education that is based on academic excellence and consistency while serving the needs of the Libyan community by creating a qualified and competent educational workforce. The department is comprised of 13 faculty members who have graduated from various universities and have diverse specialties in the English language. Additionally, there are seven teaching assistants and three laboratory technicians.
Upon completing 140 academic units over eight semesters, the graduate student is awarded a bachelor's degree in arts and education, specializing in English.
The department's vision is to become a distinguished educational institution that prepares and qualifies educational staff in the field of the English language and produces qualified elements that serve the education sector. The department's mission is to graduate English teachers who meet high standards that provide the requirements in all educational and scientific aspects, thus improving the level of students in schools at various stages.
The objectives of the department are as follows: - Emphasize the importance of the English language for students and researchers due to its strong relationship with scientific progress. - Develop curricula and courses to the future vision and the needs of students after graduation, by quality standards. - Provide students with the necessary linguistic knowledge to become excellent teachers in their field and meet the needs of society and its institutions. - Encourage faculty members to conduct scientific research and participate in scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops, as well as contribute to the development of language teaching methods. - Serve and develop the community through activities inside and outside the college, and cooperate with various community institutions by providing training courses and workshops.

To apply to study in this department, the student must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a certificate of completion of the secondary stage in either a scientific or literary specialty. - Have an overall rating of at least 65%. - Be in good health and fit. - Pass an educational entrance exam.
