The field of plant protection is considered one of the most important areas in agriculture, as it encompasses various subfields such as Entomology, Plant Pathology, pesticides, and pest control.

Entomology deals with the study of various insects' biology, physiology, morphology, and ecology. It also studies insects that damage field crops, orchard trees, vegetables, and decorations, as well as those that infect stored grain and wooden trees. This field also focuses on biological control and beekeeping.

Plant diseases involve the study of diseases that affect field crops, fruit trees, vegetables, and ornamental plants. It examines the pathogens responsible for these diseases, such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, and nematodes, as well as their physiology and classification.

Pesticide science and pest control deals with the management of various agricultural pests, including insects, acaroses, nematodes, rodents, fungi, bacteria, and viruses. It also entails studies on the biological assessment of pesticides, pest resistance to pesticides, pesticide toxicity on pests, environmental pollution by pesticides, and reducing the risks of exposure to them. This field also focuses on Integrated Pest Management and developing integrated management programs for all types of pests.

Objectives of the plant protection department include spreading awareness about the importance of safe agricultural products free from plant diseases and chemical pesticide residues, conducting scientific research to improve the agricultural sector and find alternative solutions to using chemical pesticides, developing agricultural awareness among workers in the field, and collaborating with other government agencies, such as research centers and agricultural directorates, to exchange experiences and knowledge and review the latest developments in the field of agriculture and plant protection.
