The Department of Chemistry is one of the scientific departments at the Faculty of Education Al-Ghuraifah – Sebha University, established in 1997, where the student is granted a bachelor's degree in chemistry after completing the academic units(141 academic units), including several theoretical and practical subjects related to chemistry, as well as some educational materials that qualify the student to work in the field of teaching and meet the requirements of the labor market in the field of chemistry, through a study period of (8) semesters, where the Department of chemistry includes ( 7) faculty members in addition to a professor seconded to the Libyan Commission for scientific research-Tripoli and (3 repeaters.
The study of some courses is mainly based on previous courses that are required to be passed successfully, and the student is not allowed to study a course unless he successfully passes the previous courses on which the course depends.
Vision
  Providing a distinguished level of scientific courses, educational programs, and services in the fields of research and Applied Chemistry, based on quality and continuous development.
The message
  He drew the students ' attention to the importance of understanding chemistry and creating a better educational environment to prepare graduates who are scientifically, educationally, and technically qualified in the field of chemistry to contribute to national development programs and community service and play their role in the field of chemistry teaching.
Objectives
1.    Preparing a teacher with scientific and pedagogical competence in the field of chemistry in line with the requirements of the labor market and contemporary variables.
2.    Providing academic curricula based on a scientific educational basis, linking theoretical knowledge with laboratory experience, and constantly updating it.
3.    Providing the opportunity for professors of the Department of Chemistry to participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops.
4.    Community service, solving local environmental problems through scientific research, and community participation.
5.    Developing scientific and cultural awareness of the importance of studying chemistry Sciences in its various branches and multiple fields among the students of the department, the college, and the rest of society.
Scientific communication with chemistry faculties and departments at the national and regional levels to exchange applied and teaching experiences, and enrich theoretical knowledge related to various chemistry Sciences.

Admission Requirements

To apply for a study program in this department, the student must meet a set of requirements, which include:
- A certificate of completion of the secondary stage with a scientific specialty.
- A good overall rating of at least 65%.
- Good health and physical fitness.
- Take an educational entrance exam.
