The Department of Agricultural Economics is one of the departments of the Faculty of Agriculture. It specializes in teaching economic concepts and theories and how they apply in the field of agricultural activity. The department takes a holistic view of other agricultural technical disciplines to make agricultural decisions with an economic vision that improves the efficiency of using agricultural resources. This ultimately maximizes the economic return from agricultural activity and associated agribusiness activities, such as marketing, agricultural and food processing, finance, cooperation, and agricultural extension.

Within the framework of the faculty's mission, the Department of Agricultural Economics seeks to graduate scientific cadres with bachelor's and master's degrees in Agricultural Sciences in the field of Agricultural Economics. These graduates should be familiar with the scientific and knowledge bases, as well as the acquired technical skills that meet the needs of society in the development and advancement of the agricultural sector. The ultimate goal is to achieve sustainable agricultural development.

Admission Requirements

To apply for admission to this faculty, the student must meet the following requirements:

1. The student must have a high school certificate from the scientific department with a good overall grade. Alternatively, graduates of intermediate agricultural institutes with an excellent overall grade (very good) may also be considered for admission.
2. The applicant must have good conduct throughout their pre-university studies.
3. The applicant should not have been convicted of a felony unless they have undergone rehabilitation.
4. Non-Libyan students must be regular residents for the duration of their studies and meet all the relevant qualification requirements. Students who hold a general Secondary School Certificate from outside Libya must have their certificates evaluated and approved by the General Administration of Cultural Relations or equivalent.
5. Non-Libyan applicants must agree to pay the required fees and any other expenses determined by the college or university.
6. The college may allow students to study at corresponding colleges to complete certain courses of study, by applicable laws and regulations.
