The Master's Degree Course in Science and Technology of Animal Production aims to train professionals with a solid technical-scientific background and advanced executive skills that allow them to operate in the production processes of companies in the agro-livestock sector. These production processes include those related to breeding technologies, animal genetics and nutrition, the processing industry of products of animal origin, livestock and wildlife systems, and the biosecurity of farms, both in terms of animal welfare and respect for the environment, also to protect human health.


In particular, graduates in Animal Production Science and Technology must be able to:



- Plan and manage breeding and production systems for food of animal origin also through

the use of innovative digital, information and biotechnological technologies and management tools based on

precision animal husbandry and artificial intelligence available today in the agro-livestock sector.

- To be able to combine field methodologies with laboratory techniques and methods in order to apply innovative processes

in the production, quality control, economic enhancement and marketing of

products of animal origin, and animal feed.

- Plan and manage mechanized and automated systems in agro-livestock production contexts and apply renewable and eco-sustainable energy

technologies to agro-livestock systems;

- Organize, develop and manage the nutrition of farm animals according to animal health, food

quality and human health;

- Manage the interactions between livestock activities, wildlife and the environment in order to plan an integrated and

sustainable use of territorial resources;

- Design and plan the genetic management of livestock populations for the improvement of production and

for the maintenance of the biodiversity of the available genetic resources;

- Evaluate new business models from a managerial and estimation perspective for the competitive development of the livestock sector

;

- Apply biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction or limit the spread of infectious and

spreading diseases in animal, domestic and wild populations;

- Apply the processing technologies and regulations in force ensuring the quality, safety and healthiness of food of animal origin.

Requirements and knowledge required for admission Graduates in classes L-38, L-13, L-25, L-26, L-2, L-22, as well as in the corresponding classes relating to Ministerial Decree 509/99, as well as in the corresponding classes relating to Ministerial Decree 509/99, can access the Master's Degree Course in Science and Technology of Animal Production. To be admitted, graduates must have acquired at least 60 credits in SSD concerning the following disciplines: biochemistry (BIO/10, BIO/12), rural economics and appraisal (AGR/01), agronomy and herbaceous crops (AGR/02), agricultural and general livestock genetics and genetic improvement (AGR/07, AGR/17), agricultural hydraulics (AGR/08), entomology (AGR/11), agricultural chemistry (AGR/13), food technology sciences (AGR/15), agricultural microbiology (AGR/16), agricultural mechanics and rural construction (AGR/09, AGR/10), animal nutrition, special livestock and animal husbandry (AGR/18, AGR/19, AGR/20), veterinary morpho-physiology (VET/01, VET/02), general veterinary pathology (VET/03), inspection of food of animal origin (VET/04), infectious diseases of animals (VET/05), parasitology and parasitic diseases (VET/06), veterinary pharmacology and toxicology (VET/07), animal reproduction (VET/10), informatics (INF/01), statistics (SECS-S/01).
Methods of verification of knowledge and personal preparation All external candidates must submit self-certification of their career with details of the courses and SSD of their previous university career, including the marks of the individual exams passed. The curricular requirements referred to in the previous points, together with the individual marks obtained in the previous career, will be evaluated by the appropriate Commission appointed by the Academic Board. If the commission deems it necessary, candidates may be called to an interview aimed at verifying the adequacy of their personal preparation with reference to the knowledge and skills related to zootechnical sciences and animal technologies, suitable for access to the master's degree course.
