Admission Requirements

The program is based on local admissions planning, consistent with its nature as a vocationally oriented degree program. Students must possess a high school diploma or other equivalent qualification obtained abroad and must have adequate knowledge of the Italian language, specifically text comprehension. Furthermore, to be trained as professional interpreters in LIS and LIST in just three years of study (as required by the Prime Ministerial Decree "Provisions on the Profession of Interpreter in Italian Sign Language and Tactile Italian Sign Language," Official Gazette No. 81 of April 6, 2022, where training as an interpreter for spoken languages ​​requires at least a five-year program), students must have a working knowledge of LIS. Specifically, they must be able to fully understand clear messages on familiar topics encountered in daily life and be able to grasp the fundamental concepts of complex discussions on specialized topics. Furthermore, they must be able to interact with a native speaker, engaging in effective dialogue on familiar and interesting topics, and be able to express their opinions on current affairs, explaining the pros and cons of various options. Possession of the appropriate skills identified and the student's level of proficiency in LIS will be assessed during the course admission process through locally scheduled entrance tests. The timing and procedures for taking the tests will be defined in the relevant admissions announcement. If students admitted to the course achieve a score lower than a pre-established minimum in the Italian and/or LIS proficiency tests, specific additional learning requirements will be met within the first year of the course.
