The Master's Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery provides for a total of 360 credits, spread over six years of course, of which 60 professionalizing credits, including those of the practical-evaluation internship for the purposes of qualification, to be acquired in training activities aimed at the maturation of specific professional skills and aims to provide the scientific bases and theoretical-practical preparation necessary, pursuant to Directive 75/363/EEC, for the exercise of the medical profession and the methodology and culture necessary for the practice of lifelong learning, as well as a level of professional, decision-making and operational autonomy deriving from a training course characterized by a holistic approach to health problems, of healthy or sick people also in relation to the chemical-physical, biological and social environment that surrounds them.

The specific objectives of the clinical preclinical courses are defined, as a priority, on the basis of the following criteria:

- relevance of each objective in the framework of human biology; - prerequisites for each objective with respect to specific clinical issues.

- epidemiological prevalence, urgency of intervention, possibility of intervention, severity, teaching exemplarity; - enhancement of attendance in outpatient clinics of the health facility, at least as much as in hospital wards; - enhancement of the relationship with the patient, also from a psychological point of view; - evaluation of adverse effects or any other problem related to the use of medicines (Pharmacovigilance), to ensure a favorable benefit/risk ratio for the population; - evaluation of the differences associated with gender (Gender Medicine), with the ultimate aim of ensuring the best care for every person, both men and women.

Starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, access to the single-cycle master's degree course in Medicine and Surgery (LM-41) will take place through a new modality. There is no longer an initial admission test.
Enrolment in the first semester - called the filter semester - will be free. The filter semester will take place between September and November and includes three compulsory courses: - Chemistry and biochemistry propaedeutics; -Physics; -Biology.
At the end of the lessons, there are two national exam sessions, the same for all locations: - First session: 20 November 2025 - Second session: 10 December 2025
To enrol in the degree course in Medicine and Surgery, it will be necessary to have passed all three exams with a minimum mark of 18/30 and to be placed in a useful position in the national merit ranking. Additional Educational Obligations (OFA) - English Language Level B2: Knowledge of English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required to complete the English OFA and take the English language exam required in the study plan. The operating procedures for the assessment of the English OFA will be made available once the parliamentary process for the reform of the scheduled access to the single-cycle Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery has been concluded.
