Entry Qualification:

Undergraduate diploma (or higher)

A. Students with an Italian University Degree

Applicants to this Master’s degree programme are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following classes:

  • Biology (L-13)
  • Biotechnology (L-2), provided that they have obtained at least 57 university credits ( ECTS ) in basic biological disciplines.

Those holding a Bachelor’s degree in other degree classes may also be considered for admission, provided that they have earned a consistent number of ECTS (usually no less than 90) in subjects related to biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. A full list of these subjects is available on the University’s website

B. Students with Non-Italian University Degrees

If you hold a foreign first-cycle degree (i.e. a Bachelor’s or other degree issued by a non-Italian higher education institution), the Admission Board will check your transcript of records to assess whether your first-cycle degree makes you eligible for admission.

As a general rule, the Admission Board is looking for applicants with a first-cycle degree as close as possible to those required of graduates from Italian universities, i.e. in fields related to biology, biotechnology, etc. Please note that the Admission Board may ask you to provide further documents to assess your prior academic studies.

Selection Process for All Applicants

All students meeting the above entry requirements (both Italian and international students) will be invited to an interview  with the Admission Board. The interview will be in English and is aimed at testing the applicants’ background knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry and physiology. A syllabus will be made available to applicants in order to properly prepare for the interview, which can also be arranged online.

For further details, please visit the University’s website

The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / German / French / Spanish / Italian.

Please note that we only accept official translations (either issued by your former higher education institution or carried out by a certified or sworn translator).
