The Master's Degree in Medicine and Surgery offers a total of 360 credits (CFU) over six years, including 60 professionalizing credits, including those for the practical-evaluative internship (TPV) for licensure purposes. These credits must be acquired through training activities aimed at developing specific professional skills. The program aims to provide the scientific foundation and theoretical-practical preparation required, pursuant to Directive 75/363/EEC, to practice the medical profession and the methodology and culture required for continuing education. This includes a level of professional, decision-making, and operational autonomy resulting from a training program characterized by a holistic approach to the health problems of healthy and sick individuals, including in relation to their surrounding chemical-physical, biological, and social environments.
The specific objectives of the preclinical and clinical courses are defined primarily based on the following criteria:
- relevance of each objective within the framework of human biology; - propaedeutic relevance of each objective to specific clinical topics.
The specific objectives of the clinical courses are defined, primarily, based on the following criteria:
- epidemiological prevalence, urgency of intervention, possibility of intervention, severity, and exemplary teaching; - enhancing attendance at healthcare facility outpatient clinics, at least as much as in hospital wards; - enhancing the relationship with patients, including psychological aspects; - assessing adverse effects or any other problems related to the use of medicines (Pharmacovigilance), to ensure a favorable benefit/risk balance for the population; - assessing gender differences (Gender-Specific Medicine), with the ultimate goal of ensuring the best possible care for every person, both men and women.
These objectives integrate the five Dublin descriptors (European Descriptors) with those proposed by the Institute for International Medical Education (IIME) and "The TUNING Project (Medicine) - Learning Outcomes/Competences for Undergraduate Medical Education in Europe." Furthermore, they are entirely consistent with what is indicated in the "core curriculum" for the master's degree in Medicine and Surgery proposed at the national level by the Conference of Presidents of Italian Degree Courses.

Admission Requirements
Enrollment in the first semester — called the "Open Semester" — will be unrestricted.
The screening semester will take place between September and November and includes three compulsory-attendance courses:
Chemistry and Introductory Biochemistry; Physics; Biology.
At the end of the courses, two national examination sessions will be held, identical for all universities.
To enroll in the Medicine and Surgery degree programme, students must:
pass all three examinations with a minimum grade of 18/30; be placed in a qualifying position in the national merit ranking.

Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) – English Language Level B2
To fulfill the English OFA requirement and take the English language examination included in the study plan, students must demonstrate English proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
This requirement may be satisfied in the following ways:
By submitting a language certificate obtained no more than three years before the date of submission, at B2 level or higher (for the list of language certificates recognized by the University, please refer to: https://www.unimi.it/it/node/39322). The certificate must be uploaded either at the time of enrollment or later through the portal: http://studente.unimi.it/uploadCertificazioniLingue; By taking the Placement Test administered by the University's Language Centre (SLAM), available exclusively during the first year, from October to December (January for single-cycle degree programmes). If the test is not passed, students will be required to attend the courses offered by the SLAM Centre.
The Placement Test is mandatory for all students who do not hold a valid language certificate.
Students who do not take the Placement Test by December (January for single-cycle degree programmes), or who fail to pass the final course test within six attempts, will be required to obtain a language certificate independently in order to fulfill the OFA requirement and take the English language examination.
