The general objective of the  Graphical Design Academic Program is to train critical and sensitive Graphic Designers, as empathetic human beings who acquire and/or strengthen the ability to trace their respective trajectories, adjusting to what the circumstances demand, elaborating pertinent readings of visual culture that surrounds them and with the necessary disciplinary skills to intervene, in coherence with their social behavior structures, in order to optimize their communication processes through image.
The Graphic Designer graduated from the Universidad del Valle will have a broad vision of the fields of professional action, which leads him to perform in the different industrial and cultural sectors, in addition to the diversity of environments of social life. In this sense, it may carry out its activity within cultural industries, creative industries and from the services sector (publishing industry and graphic arts, advertising, mass media, audiovisual industry and information and communication technologies), performing, according to the area of ​​deepening as: 
- Deepening in Visual Communication: Manager or creative director in the design of visual communication strategies.
- Deepening in Visual Narratives: Creator or graphic artist, who conceives and produces images in different printed, audiovisual and interactive media based on specific communication needs.
- Deepening in Design, Culture and Society: Visual culture researcher or analyst in projects of a social nature with communities from different sectors, of an academic nature within formally constituted groups and of an institutional nature for the configuration of cultural policies.
