The Doctorate in Marine Sciences is an inter-institutional program that is developed in an agreement between the Fundación Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano, the Universidad del Valle, the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, the Universidad del Norte, the Universidad del Magdalena and the Universidad de Antioquia., with the participation of the Marine and Coastal Research Institute – INVEMAR – and the Colombian Ocean Commission – CCO.
The academic name of the Doctorate program in Marine Sciences is due to the fact that the object of research, the sea in all its dimensions, will be approached through a holistic approach, using interdisciplinarity as a practice in the construction of knowledge. Therefore, the research process of this program will be focused on the interrelationships of the following basic components: scientific, ecosystemic, cultural, and sustainable development. It is registered with the ICFES according to the Resolution of the Ministry of July 15, 2010 and in the National Information System of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education (SNIES Code 90528).
