The academic programs of the Doctorate in Sciences – Biology, whose headquarters are the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Natural and Exact Sciences, aim to train professionals with the capacity to carry out basic and applied research programs in the areas of knowledge of Biology, that promote the development of biological sciences and their link to the solution of socioeconomic problems in the region and the country.
In accordance with the mission of the Universidad del Valle, the Academic Program for a Doctorate in Biology Sciences has the following objectives:

Train professionals with the ability to identify problems, plan, direct and develop research, as well as make original contributions to knowledge in Biological Sciences.
Strengthen national scientific capacity by stimulating the training of researchers who contribute to the generation of new knowledge and the scientific and technological development of Colombia and the world.
Promote the formation of high-level research groups with the capacity to lead scientific processes that work in the search for solutions to the country's socioeconomic problems.
