The objectives of the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Mathematics are to provide a solid foundational knowledge of mathematical disciplines, giving students the opportunity to learn the modern formulation of these subjects and to become familiar with various aspects of the field, both general and methodological as well as applied. Requirements and Knowledge Needed for Admission To be admitted to the Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, candidates must hold a secondary school diploma (high school) or another foreign qualification recognized as equivalent. Basic knowledge of Mathematics and understanding of elementary logic are required for admission.
Methods for Assessing Knowledge and Personal Preparation The Mathematics degree program has open access with a mandatory knowledge assessment test, which is not selective, to be taken before enrollment. The assessment is conducted through the TOLC (CISIA Online Test), which students must take at the University of Milan or at any other university participating in CISIA (Interuniversity Consortium for Integrated Access Systems). Registrations for the TOLC must be made on the CISIA website (www.cisiaonline.it ).
The TOLC tests valid for admission to the Mathematics degree are TOLC-S and TOLC-I. Students may enroll only after taking one of the indicated TOLCs, regardless of the result. Other equivalent tests may be accepted upon approval by the Teaching Board.
