The Master of Arts in Language Pedagogy (MALP) exposes the student to three main areas of study: language pedagogy, second language acquisition, and the literature and culture of the target area. The course of study focuses on developing professional skills and enabling students to critically evaluate and apply literature and research in the discipline. The MALP prepares students to teach adult learners at post-secondary institutions and private secondary institutions, or to continue graduate work in second language acquisition, research and pedagogy.

Every applicant must meet the requirements set by the Graduate School.
Minimum requirements:
  • An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0, based on all undergraduate work. If the undergraduate GPA is below 3.0, a GPA will be calculated on the last 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of the undergraduate work for admission consideration.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
International students are subject to additional application requirements; for further information about International Graduate students, click here.
Proof of English Language Proficiency must be demonstrated in one of the following ways:
  • TOEFL: 80 or higher
  • IELTS: 6.5 or higher
  • DUOLINGO: 110 or higher
  • ACT English score of 18 or higher
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) Score of 510 or higher
