Admission Requirements

The following are the minimum requirements needed to apply for the MS program:
  • Applicants for the Gerontology MS do not need any nursing background. The Gerontology MS is an interdisciplinary, academic degree. Students in all academic backgrounds are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants for the Nursing MS degree must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse or advanced practice registered nurse.
  • Completed application for graduate admission. Apply HERE
  • Transcripts from ANY and ALL colleges and universities attended, including the University of Utah, must be uploaded as part of the graduate application
  • Evidence of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited university or college, or a nationally-accredited nursing school from either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Accreditation (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)”, or the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN-CNEA)
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • A current resume or curriculum vitae
  • Three (3) professional references
  • Professional goal statement
