The University of Utah offers a two-year master’s degree program in Genetic Counseling that integrates didactic coursework, clinical rotations/fieldwork training, supplementary community activities, and an independent research project to best prepare students for a successful career in genetic counseling. The program also teaches the competencies necessary for students to pass the American Board of Genetic Counseling certification examination following graduation.

The University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling or UUGPGC is housed in the School of Medicine. It is an interdisciplinary collaboration between many internal departments with participation from several local hospitals and industry laboratories that contribute to students’ unique experiences during training.
