Master of Science in Occupational Health (MSOH) degree program has detailed programmatic educational objectives for each emphasis (Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Hygiene Hazardous Substance Training, Ergonomics, Safety Science, Occupational Injury Prevention and General Health). These MSOH degree emphases are overseen by the RMCOEH. Dr. Larson is the Program Director of the Graduate Programs in Occupational and Environmental Health which are housed primarily in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Health in the Department of Family & Preventive Medicine (DFPM) in the School of Medicine at the University of Utah. These programs also have major components in, and collaborative relationships with the University of Utah’s Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Internal Medicine, and the College of Mines. This hierarchy introduces many levels of educational objectives. It also translates into a constant, multi-faceted evaluation of the program’s success and its ability to attain the desired outcomes. The MSOH degree can typically be completed in 1.5 to 2 years and requires a research-based master’s thesis or project. Full time students may receive full or partial NIOSH stipend support.
