Learning Outcomes Be knowledgeable about general concepts, theories, and methods used in the discipline of Linguistics; Have a broad and detailed knowledge of the research literature, theories, and methods within at least two major subfields of Linguistics (e.g. Syntax, Phonology, Acquisition.) Be able to evaluate and synthesize research literature on a significant research topic within selected areas of expertise; Complete original research on a selected topic that contributes to knowledge within the discipline of Linguistics and be able to conduct future research on topics in the field; Be able to disseminate original research in appropriate ways (including conference presentations an journal publications); Be prepared to hold a faculty position in higher education or a research-related position in the public, private, or nonprofit sectors.
